In early March, our Executive Director Julianna Dodson, was invited to participate in the Aspen Institute Community Strategies Group (Aspen CSG) Rural Development Hubs convening, joining 49 other rural leaders from across the United States to participate in national strategy for advancing rural development and community resilience.
Aspen CSG says this about hubs: “Hubs play a critical role in advancing asset-based, local, and regional wealth-building strategies to strengthen rural communities. Hubs can be any entity focused on connecting dots across their region to ‘do development differently’ and guided by key strategies. These strategies include working regionally, building capacity and trust, fostering collaboration, taking risks, looking for systems gaps, and, most importantly, working to build wealth in their region for their residents.”
During this forum, Julianna will share about what she learned, more about the hubs concept, and how it could be used for other efforts and organizations in our region doing critical work that fits this description, such as in gaining access to new funders, getting on the same page with staff and board members, and more.
